Tuna Melt

Soup and sandwiches are perfect when the weather is chilly and you just can’t seem to warm up. Combining grilled cheese and tuna salad makes for a delicious twist on the usual soup and sandwich combo.

how to make tuna melts

ingredients

a tablespoon of butter
two slices of bread
a dish of tuna salad
one slice of cheese

directions

Prepare the tuna salad in a small dish, according to your favorite recipe. Set aside.

Spread butter on one side of a piece of bread.

Lay the bread, butter-side down, in a warm skillet.

Top the bread with a tablespoon or two of the tuna salad mixture and smooth evenly over the bread.

Top with a slice of cheese.

Butter another slice of bread and put it on top of the cheese, butter-side facing up.

Grill the sandwich until light brown.

Carefully flip the sandwich and grill until the second side is golden brown.

Any tuna salad recipe will work for this. I usually just do a simple salad by combining the fish, mayo, salt, and pepper. Sometimes I’ll also add a little onion powder.

These melts go really well with tomato soup.

  • Mayonnaise

  • 1 slice American Cheese

Method

  1. Prepare the tuna salad in a small dish, according to your favorite recipe. Set aside.

  3. You can use butter on the bread instead of mayonnaise.
  4. Lay one slice of bread, mayonnaise-side down, in a warm skillet.
  5. Top the second slice of bread with a tablespoon or two of the tuna salad mixture and smooth evenly over the bread.
  6. Top with a slice of cheese.
    1 slice American Cheese
  7. Spread mayonnaise on another slice of bread and put it on top of the cheese, mayonnaise-side facing up.
  8. Grill the sandwich until light brown.
  9. Carefully flip the sandwich and grill until the second side is golden brown.

Notes
