Meet Smaug! He’s a Kenyan Sand Boa. Smaug came to our family on January 25, 2024 when his previous owner was getting ready to move and she couldn’t take him with. We don’t see Smaug very often. He emerges from his sand only when he’s hungry and goes back as soon as he’s done eating. He’s got an unusual way of eating. Most snakes will eat their prey head-first. Smaug eats his tail first, while he’s laying upside down!
