Tabitha raises mealworms and dubia roaches to feed to the reptiles. By raising them herself, she has a never-ending supply of food for the reptiles.
Dubia Roaches
The dubia roaches live in a large Rubbermaid container with egg crates to hide in. They also have a heat pad to keep their container at a constant ninety degrees. If they get too cool, they won’t breed so it’s important to keep an eye on the thermometer to make sure their environment is just right. They are fed fresh fruits and vegetables, rat food, chicken food, and roach food. Tabitha also gives them a water gel to drink.
Mealworms
The mealworms live in the drawers of a plastic rolling cart. Oatmeal doubles as bedding and food for them. They also get fresh fruits and vegetables and a water gel to drink.
Superworms
Tabitha has tried raising superworms for the reptiles, but there’s something she hasn’t been able to get perfectly right in their environment. Whenever she starts to become successful at breeding and raising them, they all start to die. It’s been frustrating for her, but she continues to try different recommended methods of raising them and one day she’ll find the trick that works best in our environment!
