The One Room Schoolhouse

Welcome to The One Room Schoolhouse. Pull up a rocking chair, grab a mug of hot tea, and ignore that ever-growing to do list. Learning is in session.

Here on the farm, school doesn’t look like lines of desks in a sterile room with hard floors and white walls. You won’t find children memorizing facts in a book because they’re going to be on a test. And, you won’t find rigid schedules here. Instead, school looks like a comfortable couch with a soft blanket reading a book because a child is interested in the subject. It’s baking sheets, rolling pens, and little cheeks covered in flour. It’s muddy shoes and excited squeals because the frogs are out during a rainstorm. The One Room Schoolhouse is built on a simple, old-fashioned concept: that children of all ages can come together to learn by experiencing the magic and wonder in life.

all are welcome

The One Room Schoolhouse is an invitation to grow. We honor the rhythms of the Earth, follow the seasons, laugh at the goats’ shenanigans, and follow nature’s lead. Whether you are a seasoned homeschooler, an adventurous unschooler, or a family looking for some weekend activities to try, you are welcome here at The One Room Schoolhouse.

how to use The One Room Schoolhouse

The seasonal activities in The One Room Schoolhouse are designed to give you exposure to different topics. Please follow your child’s natural curiosity. If she isn’t interested in an activity, set it aside and move onto something else. If she is excited and engaged, jump into the rabbit hole and explore it deeper.

stories, activities, and more

This section of The One Room Schoolhouse is still being developed. When it’s ready, you’ll find seasonal explorations, recipes, crafts, and much more. Some things I’m working on include:

Autumn: Harvest, hues, and crunchy hikes
Winter: Cozy Quilts, stargazing, and hibernation
Spring: Mud, miracles, and new beginnings
Summer: Bare feet, fireflies, and sun chemistry
